"Burkhan
Khaldun" Mountain will be considered for inclusion in World Heritage Site

Ulaanbaatar,
September 3 (MONTSAME) Officials from UNESCO Tangible Cultural Heritage Center
in the letter to our Minister of Education and sciences have said this
mountain will be considered for the inclusion in the World Heritage site next
year.
These officials
got au fait with this place during the last week of this August. The mountain
is a national place of worship and historical point constantly highlighted in
the "Secret History of Mongols". The officials were also provided
with information about natural formation, idolization and cultural heritages in
the area.
For the time
being, the UNESCO World Heritage Site list has Mongolian sites such as Bank of
the Uvs Lake, Cultural Singularity of Orkhon Valley, and Petroglyph complex of
Altai Mountains.
Defense
Minister meets with Russian First Deputy Minister of Defense
September 3
(news.mn) Defense Minister of Mongolia D.Bat-Erdene met with First Deputy
Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation and General of the Army A.Bakhin
in Ulaanbaatar today.
State Secretary
of the Defense Ministry Major-General Z.Boldbaatar will also have a meeting
with Russian defense officials on protocol for technical military assistance to
Mongolia free of charge and an agreement on the establishment of a trans-border
wildlife reserve, "The Source of the Amur River", as part of a
package of documents that are scheduled to be signed during Russian President
V.Putin's one-day visit to Mongolia.

Mongolian sumo wrestlers to fight in the top division
September 3
(news.mn) The Japanese professional sumo wrestling banzuke, a document listing
the rankings of professional sumo wrestlers, has been published. The fifth
basho in 2014 will featue three yokozuna and three ozeki .
In September, a
total of 26 Mongolian sumo wrestlers will fight in the professional sumo
wrestling tournament, and 13 of them will fight in the top division (makucchi)
of professional sumo. This is the highest record achieved by Mongolian sumo
wrestlers and the first time that 13 Mongolian sumo wrestlers have fought in
the makuuchi of all six divisions of the tournament.
Sumo Grand
Champion Hakuho leads the Mongolian sumo wrestlers in the division with
Harumafuji and Kakiryu chasing after him. Terunofuji who was put on the east
standings and will lead career maegashira wrestlers. Ichinojo moved on to
the makuuchi division for the first time to stand in 10th place in the
maegashira. In addition, Kyokutenho, Tokitenku, Kagamio, Kyokushiho,
Azumaryu, Takainova, Aravashi and Tamavashi will fight in makuuchi.
In the juro
division, Shotenru, Asasekeryu, Sensho and Sagigake will fight.
The basho will
kick off on September 14th.
Russian
leader now visiting Mongolia
September 3
(news.mn) Russian President Vladimir Putin landed at Chinggis Khaan
International Airport at 2:25 p.m. today.
V.Putin is
accompanied by a delegation including Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey
Lavrov, Vice-Premier Yuri Trutnv, Minister of Energy Aleksandr Novak, Minister
for the Development of the Far East Aleksandr Galushka, Minister of Natural
Resources and Ecology Sergey Donskoy, Justice Minister Alexander Konovalov,
Minister of Construction, Housing and Utilities Mikhail Menj, Transport
Minister Maxim Sokolov, President of Russian Railways V. I. Yakunin, and
representing Russian businesses, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund
Kirill Dmitriev, Rosneft Chairman Igor Sechin, and CEO of United Company
RUSAL Oleg Deripaska.
President of
Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj welcomed his Russian counterpart, President V.Putin with
the honorary guard at Chinggis Khaan Square.
Leaders of two
countries paid their respects to the Great Khaan's Monument. The presidents
will start official bilateral talks after a one-on-one meeting.
Over 20
bilateral agreements on trade and infrastructure will be signed by the two
leaders.
This is the
third state visit by Putin to Mongolia. In 2000, Putin paid a state visit to
Mongolia during his term as Prime Minister, and 9 years later, also as Prime
Minister.
Local and
Russian media reports that the parties will solve visa-free travel issues,
agreements on the development and modernization of Ulaanbaatar Railway JSC, and
a swap agreement.
The Russian
leader is also scheduled to lay wreath at the monument to Marshak Georgy Jukov
and have dinner with Khalkh Gol Battle veterans on the occasion of the 75th
anniversary of the victory by Mongolian and Soviet soldiers in the Battles of
Khalkh Gol.
Leaders
of Mongolia and Russia make joint statement

(news.mn) The President of Mongolia and president of the Russian Federation,
Vladimir Putin, made a joint statement after a ceremony for the signing
bilateral agreements.
President
Ts.Elbegdorj noted, “in the scope of the visit, one-on-one and extended
bilateral talks with Russian President V.Putin solved significant issues. In
particular, Mongolia and Russia reached a wide understanding, exchanging views
on the three neighbors' relations. This visit had a busy schedule but its
subjects were of great importance."
A total of 15
agreements, protocols and MoUs were signed between the ministries of the two
governments and entities of the two countries. As a result, the agreement on
visa-free travel policy was resolved. Work to increase transport on
Ulaanbaatar Railway JSC, to modernize and make it dual will be complete by
2020.
Mongolia and
Russia agreed to reach trade volume of 10 billion USD by 2020, and to expand
collaboration between culture and media organizations.
Russian
President V.Putin said that Russia is willing to increase auto technology
industries and Russia is able to import meat from Mongolia in the case that
imported meat meets veterinary and hygienic standards in Russia.
Putin also said
that Russia will collaborate on the key activities of the UN and Shanghai
Cooperation Organization.

Cabinet
Amends Government Resolution to Stabilize Mongolrostsvetmet’s Activity

(infomongolia.com) The irregular Cabinet meeting of the Government was held on
September 02, 2014, where the first issue resolved was to amend a Government
Resolution in order to stabilize MongolRosTsvetMet LLC’s activity.
According to
the Law of Mongolia and Government Resolution No.194 on prohibition to explore
and use minerals bordering zones of river headwaters, water reservoir and forestry,
activities on two areas run by “MongolRosTsvetMet” LLC have been halted earlier,
which were determined as an inset of the prohibited zones.
The
Intergovernmental Agreement to run its activity on this territory by “MongolRosTsvetMet”
LLC was ratified by the State Great Khural (Parliament) of Mongolia on January
16, 2009 and by the State Duma of the Russian Federation on December 23, 2009,
but likely to be conflicting some international treaties.
Therefore, at
the Cabinet meeting held yesterday, it was decided to amend a clause titled “To
Set Boundaries” in the above Government Resolution No.194 issued on June 05,
2012 by changing coordination in the prohibited zones.
The
“MongolRosTsvetMet”, Mongolian-Russian joint venture owns two exploration
licenses No. Ð¥V-003595 namely “Tuin Golyn Ekh” and No. XV-004211, “Tuin Gol” in
Erdenetsogt Sum of Bayankhongor Aimag, where these licenses are permitted to explore
minerals in 24,670,6 ha, but 12,060,6 ha of the total territory coincide the
part of the protected areas.
In order to
resolve issue, Russian side forwarded a request last year addressing the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia.
Accordingly, a
working group comprised of representatives from Mongolia’s Ministry of Mining,
Ministry of Nature, Environment and Green Development, and Ministry of Foreign
Affairs have worked on the site and made a conclusion to amend the law.
By resolving
this issue, the “MongolRosTsvetMet” LLC’s operation would be stabilized and
cooperation on Mongolia-Russia partnership will be also boosted, deems the
Government of Mongolia.
Mongolia
Intends to Co-Implement “Steppe Road” Program with China and Russia

(infomongolia.com) At the irregular Cabinet meeting held on September 02, 2014,
Minister of Economic Development N.Batbayar introduced current process of the
"Steppe Road" Program that reflects Government Policy and in this
regard, a working group to implement the Program is formed chaired by the
Minister of Economic Development.
In the scope of
the “Steppe Road” Program, it plans to construct infrastructures for 997 km of
highway road and 1,100 km distribution network per energy, gas and oil connecting
Russia and China through Mongolian territory. If the Program implements, it
will expect increased investment, construction development throughout the
country as well as progresses in energy and mining sectors will be reached a
new level. Consequently, Mongolia’s GDP will be increased significantly compare
to current data.
In the
frameworks of Mongolia’s Socio-Economic Policy to Develop in 2014, the
guidelines 4.4 cites “To determine infrastructure policy and implement agendas
on constructing railway, auto road, energy line, oil and gas pipelines
connecting the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China”.
As a result of
conducted studies and intergovernmental dialogue, the Joint Declaration on the
Development of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Mongolia and the
People’s Republic of China was issued during the recent state visit of the President
of China Xi Jinping to Mongolia. In this Joint Declaration, the “Steppe Road”
Program to implement was included and the next important dialogue is expected
to organize with the Russian Federation.
Mongolia is
located between the world’s biggest supplier and consumer, and it is a big
opportunity to become a bridge of trade turnover between these two leading
states by the means of using its geographical advantage that would helpful to
Mongolia’s economic growth.
In May 2014,
Russia and China have established an intergovernmental agreement and according
to this long-term agreement, Russia will deliver to China 38 billion cubic
meters of gas annually over a period of 30 years starting from 2018.
Austria-Mongolia
and Hungary-Mongolia Business Forums to Take Place in Vienna and Budapest
Cities in October 2014

(infomongolia.com) The Implementing Agency of the Government, Invest Mongolia
in association with Mongolia’s Embassy in Austria, Austrian Chamber of Commerce
and the Embassy of Mongolia in Hungary are organizing Austria-Mongolia Business
Forum and Hungary-Mongolia Business Forum in Vienna and Budapest cities on
October 14-18, 2014.
The Business
Forums are aimed to increase trade and investment in Austria and Hungary as
well as to boost economic and business partnership and by participating in
these events, Mongolia enables to establish business contacts and broaden relations
with Austrian and Hungarian entrepreneurs. At the Forums, large representatives
of political and business sectors are to attend, say organizers.
National
Security Councils of Turkey and Mongolia Agree to Strengthen Partnerships between
Defense and Police Sectors

(infomongolia.com) Upon the invitation of the Secretary of the National
Security Council of Mongolia Ts.Enkhtuvshin, the Secretary-General of the
National Security Council of the Republic of Turkey, Governor Muammer Turker is
conducting an official visit to Mongolia on September 02-04, 2014.
In the frames
of the visit, Governor Muammer Turker held a bilateral talk with his counterpart
Ts.Enkhtuvshin, where parties discussed issues concerning the two National
Security Councils as well as affiliated organs adhering the security policies and
agreed to bolster partnerships between defense and police sectors of the two countries.
On September
03, Secretary-General M.Turker was received by the President of Mongolia
Ts.Elbegdorj and held a meeting with the Foreign Minister L.Bold.
The National
Security Councils of Mongolia and Turkey have established a Memorandum of
Understanding in 2011 and it is noticeable that in the scope of cooperation
some actions are being implemented to strengthen partnership in the security sector.
The National
Security Council of Turkey was established following the ratification of the
Constitution of 1982. The NSC, under the chairmanship of the President, is
composed of the Prime Minister, the Commander of the Turkish Armed Forces, Four
Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers for Justice, National Defense, Interior and
Foreign Affairs, Commanders for the Land, Naval and Air Forces, and the General
Commander of the Gendarmerie.
The incumbent
Secretary-General Muammer Turker was appointed by the Prime Minister’s proposal
upon approval by the President of Turkey on April 27, 2012.
President
of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj Welcomes Russian President V.V.Putin at Chinggis
Square, Ulaanbaatar
September 3
(infomongolia.com) President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj welcomed the President of
the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin at Chinggis Square, who is
paying a one-day working visit to Mongolia on September 03, 2014.
At the official
welcoming ceremony, the state flags of the two countries were hoisted, where
the guards of honor were formed and the anthems of Mongolia and the Russian
Federation were sounded.
After greeting
public and officials, the Heads of State of Mongolia and Russia paid tribute to
the Monument of Chinggis Khaan and President V.V.Putin left a note on the Guest
Book in the Government House.
The working
visit program of the Russian President started with one-to-one meeting with his
counterpart and bilateral talks at broad ranges by the two Government
representatives were held.
This is the
third official visit of the Russian President to Mongolia. Vladimir Putin paid
his first official visit to Mongolia in 2000, when he was serving as the
President of Russia and nine years later V.V.Putin conducted an official visit
to Mongolia at the Russia’s Prime Minister-level.
During this
visit, Russia and Mongolia plan to sign on 15 documents, where a deal on the
strategic partnership and modernization of the Ulaanbaatar Railway JSC is
expected to be concluded between the Russian Railways JSC and the Ministry of
Roads and Transportation of Mongolia.
Today, the
Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and Mongolia headed by
Minister S.V.Lavrov and Minister L.Bold signed an agreement on reciprocal
visa-free travel, which would be effective from January 01, 2015.
