Banzuke for 2014 September Grand Sumo Tournament Released Today
September 1 (infomongolia.com) On September 01, 2014, the Japan Sumo Association has released the Banzuke - rankings of professional sumo wrestlers for 2014 Aki Basho or Grand Sumo September Tournament to take place in Tokyo city on September 14-28, 2014.

According to new release, only one wrestler (Ichinojo - A.Ichinnorov) has achieved to advance for the top division of Makuuchi from the second top.
The East flank will be heading by Yokozuna Hakuho followed by Yokozuna Harumafuji and the West by Yokozuna Kakuryu.
Following the last tournament held in Nagoya, two Mongolian sumo wrestlers (Oniarashi - U.Ulziijargal and Taiga - S.Sharavnyambuu) have announced to retire. Thus, a total of 26 Mongolian wrestlers are to compete in the 2014 September Tournament.

Mongolia-Inner Mongolia Business Meeting to Run in Hohhot, China
September 1 (infomongolia.com) A delegation of Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI) headed by MP S.Demberel will be conducting a working visit to Inner Mongolia, China on September 24-28, 2014.
Accordingly, Inner Mongolia Council for the Promotion of International Trade is organizing a business meeting in Hohhot, where representatives of the two sides are expected to exchange information on current bilateral trade and economic opportunities, to host one-to-one meeting and to present introduction on biggest projects.
Mongolian delegates will be familiarized with major factories and entities’ activities operating in Inner Mongolia.

Ambassador-at-Large S.Badral at 6th global forum of UNAOC

Ulaanbaatar, September 1 (MONTSAME) Ambassador-at-Large of Mongolia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr S.Badral delivered a speech at the Sixth Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) which ran themed “Unity in Diversity” on August 29-30 in Bali, Indonesia.
Mr Badral underlined an importance of education in changing people’s mind and of the latest initiatives issued within the UN, including a resolution on the education for democracy adopted by the UN at initiative of Mongolia. He also said Mongolia will host the 5thb Ministerial Meeting of the Freedom Online Coalition in 2015.
The Global Forum is the highest-profile event of the UN Alliance of Civilizations, bringing together prominent personalities, current and potential partners, and others from different sectors. This year’s forum brought together about 1,300 delegates including the President of Indonesia, the Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste and the UN Secretary-General. They discussed issues of youths, education, media and population migration which are the four pillar sectors of the UNAOC, and then issued the Declaration of Bali.

“Discover Mongolia -2014” kicks off on Thursday
September 1 (news.mn) The 12th Annual International Mining Investors Forum “Discover Mongolia 2014” will be held in Ulaanbaatar, on September 4-5th.
Executive Director of the Mongolian National Mining Association N.Algaa fears that the Annual International Mining Investors Forum  might have poor attendance by investors.
The two-day forum will provide a platform for the discussions on the legal environment, the current situation in the gold and coal markets, project finance, and geological research. There will also be a session on rare earth elements.
This year's forum stands out, as the Mining Ministry Mongolia and Mongolian National Mining Association are organizing “Discover Mongolia 2014” together.  Prime Minister of Mongolia N.Altankhuyag, the Mining Minister, Economic Development Minister and other government officials will also attend the annual forum to exchange views and report on current developments.

About new country director of WB for Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar, September 1 (MONTSAME) The World Bank (WB) recently has appointed Mr Bert Hofman as its new country director for China, Mongolia and Korea in the East Asia and Pacific Region, based in Beijing.
A Dutch citizen Mr Bert Hofman has talked about his past experience with each of the three countries and his vision for the new assignment.
Prior to his present assignment, Mr Hofman was the WB’s Chief Economist for the East Asia and Pacific Region and Director, Singapore Office. As regional chief economist he led a team to analyze key trends and policy issues across East Asia and the Pacific and as Director Singapore he helped build a partnership that focuses on expanding investment in infrastructure in emerging economies.
Before moving to Singapore in 2011, Mr Hofman was the Country Director for the Philippines, responsible for a growing portfolio of projects and advisory services to the Philippines government.
Mr Hofman has accumulated more than 22 years of experience in the WB, 16 of which in the East Asia region. Among others, Mr Hofman was Lead Economist for China and for Indonesia and country economist for Mongolia and Namibia. He had also worked on Brazil, South Africa, Mongolia, Zambia, and Namibia in his earlier years with the Bank.
Prior to joining the WB, Mr Hofman worked at the Kiel Institute of World Economics in Germany, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris, and NMB Bank in the Netherlands (now ING).
Mr Hofman holds a degree in economics of Erasmus University Rotterdam and studied at the Christian Albrechts University, Kiel.

Ulaanbaatar, September 1 (MONTSAME) Five stock trades were held at Mongolia's Stock Exchange on August 25-29 of 2014. In overall, 42 thousand and 678 shares were sold of 40 joint-stock companies totalling MNT 90 million 677 thousand and 078.00.
"Genco tour bureau” /10 thousand and 722 units/, "E-trans logistics” /8,990 units/, "Tavantolgoi” /5,987 units/, "Gobi” /5,124 units/ and "Merex” /2,845 units/ were the most actively traded in terms of trading volume, in terms of trading value--"Gobi” (MNT 39 million 032 thousand and 550), "Tavantolgoi” (MNT 30 million 162 thousand and 115), "Avto impex” /MNT two million 091 thousand and 800/, "Talkh chikher” /MNT one million 999 thousand and 500/ and "Darkhan nekhii” (MNT one million 898 thousand and 500).

Ulaanbaatar, September 1 (MONTSAME) At the Stock Exchange trades on Monday, a total of 74 thousand and 153 shares of 29 JSCs were traded costing 52 million 992 thousand and 175.00 togrog.
"Remikon” /19 thousand and 900 units/, “E-trans logistics” /15 thousand and 990 units/, “Olloo” /15 thousand and 010/, “Hermes center” /10 thousand and 100/ and "Avto impex” /4,416 units/ were the most actively traded in terms of trading volume, in terms of trading value were "Avto impex” (MNT 16 million 339 thousand and 200), "Bayangol hotel” (MNT 12 million and 744 thousand), "APU” (MNT five million and 775 thousand), "Remikon” (MNT two million 985 thousand and 010) and "Khasu-mandal” (MNT two million and 340 thousand).
The total market capitalization was set at MNT one trillion 624 billion 095 million 675 thousand and 432. The Index of Top-20 JSCs was 15,912.93, increasing 16.84 units or 0.11% against the previous day.

Women’s team wins silver medal in Judo World Championships

Ulaanbaatar, September 1 (MONTSAME) The Mongolia’s national women team for judo captured a bronze medal in the team contest of the 2014 World Judo Championships which was concluded Sunday in Chelyabinsk, Russia.
The women’s team beat its rivals of Kazakhstan and Cuba until the semi-finals. At the semi-finals, Mongolia defeated Polish team by 2:3.
In the finals, Mongolia was beaten by the French team that comprised Olympic and World championship medallists.
The first point was given to Priscilla Gneto (52 kg) against M.Bundmaa, and after this D.Sumiya beat a world bronze medallist Automne Pavia, obtaining the first win for Mongolia. A World champion Clarisse Agbegnenou helped her teams cause and her bid to become individual and team champion by beating B.Mongonchimeg with a yuko and waza-ari all in the last 48 seconds. Then Ts.Naranjargal restored parity with a win against Margaux Pinot to make it 2-2. At the tie-break bout, B.Monkhtuya was thrown by Audrey Tcheumeo for ippon with a uchi-mata.
The bronze medals went to Japanese and German teams. Meanwhile, Japan won the men’s team contest, being followed by Russia, Germany and Georgia.
By the overall team results, the national team of Mongolia took 5th place in the 2014 World Judo Championships, grabbing one gold and one silver medals. Mongolia followed Japan (five gold, two silver and four bronze medals), France (three gold, one silver and four bronze), Brazil and Cuba (both one gold, one silver and two bronze).

T.Batchimeg has draw with Armenian player

Ulaanbaatar, September 1 (MONTSAME) A chess player of Mongolia T.Batchimeg WGM had a draw with an Armenian player Elina Danielian (2,458) on the sixth game on Sunday at the last series of the FIDE Women's Grand Prix which is continuing in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
Thus, the Mongolian player is being ranked 3rd with 4 points after having two wins and four draws. On the seventh game, she will compete against Zhao Xue (2,508) of China.
The Grand Prix series is currently being led by Hou Yifan (2,661), who has got 5 points.
