Jyoti, Manoj and Yadav bag bronze medals in wrestling championship

Chandigarh, Apr 26 : Three Indians, including Jyoti, bagged bronze medals in their respective categories in the Senior Asian Wrestling Championship at the Daulet Sports Complex in Astana, Kazakhstan today.

Jyoti (75 kg women freestyle), KK Yadav (71 kg, Greco-Roman) and Manoj Kumar (85 kg, Greco-Roman) reached the podium to receive bronze medals for India. India got another bronze medal through Jyoti who defeated Ismatoba Gulmira of Uzbekistan with a technical fall (13-3) in 75 kg women's freestyle category. Meanwhile, India finished fifth in women's freestyle team championship with 39 points. Japan emerged winners with 66 points with China finished runners-up with 64 points. Mongolia and Kazakhstan obtained third and fourth positions with 57 and 54 points, respectively.

Guzel Manyurova of Kazakhstan claimed gold medal by prevailing over Zhou Feng of China by 7-6 in a closely contested final round bout.

Meanwhile, Manoj Kumar (85 kg) and KK Yadav (71 kg) also claimed bronze medals in their respective categories in Greco-Roman competitions. Kyyas Esenov of Turkenistan defeated Manoj Kumar and Yadav surrendered to Mirkhojaev Nekruz of Tajikstan for the bronze medals.

In 71 kg class, KK Yadav defeated Nekruz Mirkhojaev (Tajikstan) by 5-2 in repech final (1). Manoj Kumar (India) got the better of Kyyas Esenov (TKM) 3-1 in 85 kg repech final Womenm (freestyle): 53 kg: 1 Zhong Xeuchun (China), 2 Nguyen Thi Lua (Vietnam), 3 Tilegenova Roazalia (Kyrgyzstan) and Sugwara Hikari (Japan). 55 kg: 1 Jong In Sun (North Korea), 2 Purevdorj Orkhon (Mongolia), 3 Abdildina Avym (Kazakhstan) and Guan Yajing (China). 10 Sliphi Seoran (India). 60 kg: 1 Zhang Lan (China), 2 Tynybekoa Aisuluu (Kyrgyzstsan), 3 Sukhee Tserenchimed (Mongolia) and Sato Haruka (Japan). 5 Sekashi Malik (India). 63 kg: 1 Ito Yurika (Japan), 2 Hang Ying Yan (China), 3 Kim Ran Mi (North Korea) and Larionova Yekaterina (Kazakhstan). 7 Sumem Kunelu (India) 69 kg: 1 Dosho Sara (Japan), 2 Sharkhuu Tumentsetseg (Mongolia), 3 Syzykoa Elmira (Kazakhstan) and 3 Yang Bin (China). 5 Navjot Kaur (India). 75 kg: 1 Manyurova Guzel (Kazakhstsan), 2 Zhou Feng (China), 3 Jyoti (India) and Suzuki (Japan). Team championship: 1 Japan 66 points, 2 China 64 pts, 3 Mongolia 57 pts, 4 Kazakhstan 54 pts, 5 India 39 pts. Men: Greco-Roman - 71kg: 1 Jihyun Jung (Korea), 2 Maxat Erezhepol ((KAZ), 3 Yadav K K (IND) and Kairat Tugolbaev (KGZ). Greco-Roman - 85kg: 1 Assakalov Rustam (UZB), Nursultan Tursunov (KAZ), Manoj Kumar (IND) and Karimfar Mojitaba (IRI).
