The families of the victims of political persecution who were expected to be executed during the height of political persecution in Mongolia from 1937-1939 held a press conference in Ulaanbaatar on November 4th, 2013.

The people who represent the families of Mongolian victims of political persecution gathered from 18 aimags all over Mongolia in Ulaanbaatar to demand compensation according to the law on rehabilitation and the granting of compensation to victims of political repression that was passed in 1998. The descendants of the victims of political repression are now between 60 and 80 years old. Those elderly people demand that the Government grant compensation to the victims` families and descendants urgently.

These families of the victims say that the Government has talked about granting compensation for over a decade but they have seen no progress. According to the families the Government has not granted home property to any of them for compensation but only issued allowanced a few times.

The Head of the Mongolian Association for Families of Victims of Political Repression, D.Dashdavaa, released a statement saying: “We, descendants of the victims of political persecution, have demanded compensation from the Government for over a decade. But now we have begun to get tired. Therefore we demand compensation of homes once and for all.”
