14 Mongolian judokas going to World Masters

Fourteen judokas of Mongolia are qualified to take part in the IJF (International Judo Federation) World Masters tournament, in which the 16 highest-ranking judokas in the World Ranking list in each of the weight classes compete against each other.


The World Masters 2013 will take place in Tyumen, Russia and this year will mark the fourth edition of this tournament. The total prize money for the tournament is 200,000 USD with 6,000 USD going to the gold medalists, 4,000 USD for silver, and 2,000 USD for bronze.

According to the latest World Ranking list from the IJF which was published after the Baku Grand Slam, among the men, Mongolian judoka D.Amartuvshin ranked third and G.Boldbaatar ranked 10th in the 60-kg category, while D.Tumurkhuleg ranked first and S.Miyaragchaa ranked 17th in 66 kg. S.Nyam-Ochir also ranked first and Kh.Tsagaanbaatar ranked eighth in 73 kg, while B.Temuulen ranked third in the -100 kg weight class.

Mongolian women judokas M.Urantsetseg ranked 11th and G.Otgontsetseg ranked 19th in 48 kg, while A.Tsolmon ranked 14th, M.Bundmaa ranked 15th, and B.Bat-Erdene took the 18th place in the 52-kg list. D.Sumiya placed eighth in 57 kg, and Ts.Naranjargal took the 12th place in the 70-kg weight class.

The organizing country has the right to include a domestic athlete as one of the competitors in case there is nobody in the Top 16 from that country. In addition, if a judoka in the 16th ranking is not able to participate in the tournament under some circumstances, the judoka in the following place is entitled to participate instead of him.

The World Masters is also one of the highest ranking tournaments. The gold medalist will earn 700 points, the silver medalist will earn 420, and 280 points will be given to the bronze medalist.
