No horse-racing competition until June

The Federation of Mongolian Horse Racing Sport and Trainers (FMHRST) submitted a decision not to hold any horse-racing competitions until June due to recent fatal accident of 8 year old jockey-boy following local horse-racing tournament which was held in Jargalant sum in Khovd aimag on March 19 dedicated to army soldiers holiday.

In recent years injuries and accidents have been popular following horse-racing competitions and have been increasing dramatically with frequent tournaments and local Naadam festivals where some serious fatal accident of jockey-children and horses.

Even though the subject has been a public debate for years there is no measures taken so far. But the latest fatal accident caused a 8 year-old boy death sparked the public debate again.

Hence The Federation of Mongolian Horse Racing Sport and Trainers (FMHRST) issues a decision to halt all horse-racing until June 1st in order to take measures to provide jockey children`s safety during the hard competition jointly with other related agencies.

Female MPs appealed a proposal of amendments into the regulations of hosting tournaments in order to protect jockey children`s right to the Head of National Authority for Children, Prime Minister N.Altankhuyag on March 26th.

Currently female MPs have taken next step collecting signatures to set limit on the age of jockey children.
