Supporting green education

As the Ministry of Environment and Green Development of Mongolia names 2013 as an environmental education year, the Ministry is aiming to concentrate more on supporting children and youths environmental education. Within the scale of this aim, J. Batbold, a premier of Ministry of Nature, Environment and Green Development of Mongolia, Sh.Bulgan-erdene, premier of Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science of Mongolia and Felix Fellmann, Country director of SDC in Mongolia signed a memorandum to jointly implement a project “Supporting the Sustainable Development of Mongolia”.

Mongolians have numerous customs to preserve the environment and to use resources efficiently. The project is aiming at demising this customs to youngsters. Moreover, the project is proposing to plant an idea of green consumption which is very economical on youngsters mind. J. Batbold said “Three parties will cooperate on supporting the implementations of programmes which is related to National Development Strategy based on Millennium Development Goals and Sustainability Project. The first issue we need to find solution is to engrain thinking and ordinance of conservancy to Mongolian youths through official and unofficial courses”. The project extends until 2016. Primarily, a work plan which will be made within the scope of the project “Educations for Sustainable Development” will be formulated by the parties by September, 2013.
