Mongolia sponsors green agricultural products trade fair

A green agricultural products trade fair has opened in Ulan Bator's Mishel Exhibition Center.

Representatives from more than 100 agriculture and animal husbandry products manufacturers and distributors across Mongolia are participating the fair sponsored by the Industry and Agriculture Ministry.

Deputy Prime Minister Dendev Terbishdagva said during Wednesday's opening ceremony that good weather this year has brought bountiful harvests to Mongolia's farmers and herders.

Mongolia's agriculture sector reportedly has never used chemical fertilizers or pesticides and produces true green products.

According to official estimates, Mongolia will harvest 468,000 tons of wheat, 208,900 tons of potatoes, 99,400 tons of vegetables and 28,600 tons of rapeseed this fall.

The grain and potatoes likely will be able to fully meet the needs of domestic residents, the government said.
