2nd Dalate Horse Cultural Festival Gallops in Inner Mongolia

The 2nd Ordos Dalate International Horse Cultural Festival was held on August 23-26 in Dalate Banner, Erdos city in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

Over 60 riders from 15 different countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Portugal, the Netherlands, Italy and Brazil, rode dressage during the opening ceremony, and later participated in jumping, polo, barrel races and other equine skills during the festival.

Steeds included American quarter horses that excel at sprinting short distances, British thoroughbreds, Arabians, the American Indian's favorite: the Appaloosa, Andalusian horses from Spain, Turkmenistan horses and more.

This annual event consists of a series of events such as speed racing, barrel racing, a horse Culture exhibition, and a horse culture industry forum and desert crossing.

The Equestrian Event was organized by the Dalate's People's Government, the Chinese Equestrian Association and CCTV Sports Channel, and hosted by CCTV Sports & Entertainment Co., Ordos Brother Fortune Equestrian Club, Equestrian magazine, and Beijing Brother Win Co.

Located in the southwest of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Dalate has a population of 360,000 the majority of which are ethnic Mongolians.

The horse remains a crucial part and symbol of the Mongols for their semi-nomadic grasslands lifestyle.
