NEWS FROM BAYANKHONGOR

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ In frames of the “Three treasures” project, initiated by the Citizens' Representative Khural of Bayankhongor aimag, scholars have organized a consultative meeting in the UB city on planting licorice, ephedra and sea-buckthorn and production opportunity.

This meeting has brought together some 20 scholars and officials, including G.Batjargal, the head of the Citizens' Representative Khural of Bayankhongor aimag; Dr. D.Batsuren, the director of the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technology at the Academy of Sciences; and Dr. Kh.Terbish, the director of the School of Biology and Biotechnology at Mongolia's State University (MSE).

The head of the Department of Environment and Tourism L.Mandal has delivered a report “Spread and reserve of licorice and ephedra”, a general agronomist of the province G.Jigjidsuren talked about experience in planting licorice, ephedra and sea-buckthorn in Bayankhongor.

A delegation of the Secretariat of the Association of North East Asia Regional Governments (NEAR) and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region of China have visited the aimag.

During the stay, the guests gave an invitation to the aimag's governor D.Amarsanaa to participate in the 9th session of the NEAR to run in Ningxia. Then, the sides signed a cooperation memorandum in the economic and technological spheres.

The NEAR is headquarted in Buha, S.Korea, and comprises Mongolia, Japan, China, the Republic of Korea, the DPRK and Russia. Its session takes place every two years in a member-country.
