Best local government leaders named

Every two years, the Union of Mongolia’s Cities and the Local Management Union select the “best leaders” in local governments.

The fourth ceremony to honor the nine best leaders was held on Wednesday in conjunction with the 20th anniversary of the establishment of local management.

J.Batjargal, the head of the of Tuv aimag Civil Representatives Assembly (CRA); L.Gunchin, the head of the Darkhan-Uul aimag CRA; G.Munkhbayar, the mayor of Ulaanbaatar; D.Dembereldash, the head of the Bayangol district CRA; and five other officials were named best leaders.

The ceremony also honored the best city planners, based on increasing tourism and creating comfortable living conditions. The winners were Ch.Tsendsuren, the governor of Darkhan soum in Darkhan-Uul aimag; the mayor of Choibalsan city in Dornod aimag; and three other officials.

The ceremony also honored local settlement officials who have worked for a long period with efficiency to determine development policies based on residents’ input, to implement the policies, and to achieve results. The winners were Kh.Munkhtuya, the head of the CRA in Duut soum in Khovd aimag; T.Munkhzorig, the head of the CRA in Erdene Sant soum in Tuv aimag; and three other officials.
