NAT'L SECURITY COUNCIL AND ISS RUN ROUND TABLE MEETING

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ A round-table meeting themed "Security of Mongolia in 2012: External factors possible to pose threat to the security" started on Wednesday in the Institute of Strategic Studies (ISS), the National Security Council (NSC).


Scholars and reseachers gave reports on challenges and risks Mongolia's security may face, then representatives of state bodies on foreign policy and national security and scholars from research centers and universities shared views on these issues.

The participants have focused on global economic situation for 2012, regional ties, their participants' geopolitical and foreign policy trends, their influence on Mongolia's security. They underlined that it has been important to seek ways of overcoming the challenges or difficulties, to work out regarding Mongolia's role, prestige and influence at international arena recommendations and to convey them to decision-makers.

On outcome of the round table, the ISS, which runs researches into possible risks to the country's security, intends to determine parameters and directions of its 2012 year's researches and works.
