Standing Committee approves draft law on social welfare

The Standing Committee on Social Policy, Education, Culture and Science discussed a draft law on social welfare for the first time on Wednesday.

Members approved further discussion in Parliament. Parliament discussed the draft law in 2010 but there was disagreement over how to define “low income,” i.e. should it be defined as a person or a household.

The committee and Parliament have noted that the monthly MNT 21,000 allowance will end next June, which will make life more difficult for many citizens. That is why the draft law on social welfare should be passed before June, said committee members.
