Standing Committee approves amendments to Criminal Law

The Standing Committee on Justice discussed proposed amendments to the Criminal Law on Wednesday.

Committee members sent the matter to Parliament for further discussion.

Amendments submitted by a group of MPs headed by Z.Enkhbold would make it a crime to vote or to attempt to vote more than once in any election, or to organize any such efforts.

Amendments submitted by a group of MPs headed by S.Erdene would make it illegal to inappropriately exercise authority in an official position, and if the damage resulting from such an action is considerable, the offender would be sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Members concluded the amendments were appropriate, especially in light of next year’s election.

  1. Criminal justice must be one of the prime concerns of any nation. Order and discipline are core values of a working society, and I do hope these amendments are for the good.
