Mongolians shine at international opera competition

Five opera singers from Mongolia qualified for the second round of the 24th International Vocal Contest named after the Russian composer Mikhail Glinka, which was held in Moscow from December 3 to 14.

G.Ariunbaatar of Suld Ensemble won first place in the competition. Young singer E.Ankhbayar took second prize as well as a special award for the best performance of a work by S.V.Rahmaninov.

Also, J.Byambajav won an award for best performance of a contemporary classical work.

Vocal singer at the State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet and Honored Artist S.Munguntsetseg won first prize at the International Vocal Contest in 2009.
