Mongolian Throat Singers Receive grand prix

Mongolian throat singers participated successfully in the 5th “Gazar delkhii amisgaa” International Throat Singing Festival, which was held from November 17 to 21 in Buryats, Russia. The festival is held every two years.

The Mongolian throat singing band was conducted by A.Tseden-ish Chief of the Association of Mongolian Throat Singing and People’s Honored Artists along with B.Odsuren a famous throat singer and senior throat singing teacher at the Mongolian Culture Art University.

Throat singer N.Naranbadrakh received the Grand Prix Title in the single genre and Ts.Tulga a senior in the Mongolian throat singing class at the Mongolian Culture and Art University placed first.

The runner up was the “Tenger” (Sky) throat singing band and student T.Bilguun from the 6th High School won a special prize.

It was the first time that a Mongolian throat singer has won the Grand Prix in single genre. In addition, the Association of Mongolian Throat Singing will be celebrating their 10th anniversary soon.

There were eleven countries that practice the art of throat singing however, it was confirmed that throat singing originated in Mongolia and throat singing was registered by the UNESCO World Heritage Center in 2010.
