Deputy Mayor discusses cooperation with Irkutsk Oblast

Ulaanbaatar Deputy Mayor B.Baatarzorig received Irkutsk Oblast Deputy Governor S.V.Serebrenikov on Thursday.

B.Baatarzorig noted that Irkutsk Oblast has a special place in traditional relations and cooperation between Mongolia and Russia, and Ulaanbaatar and Irkutsk city have been sister cities since 1996. He said Ulaanbaatar gave high importance to the 350th anniversary of Irkutsk city and sent a delegation.

S.V.Serebrenikov said that his visit is aimed at reopening an Irkutsk representative’s office in Ulaanbaatar and widening cooperation. The representative’s office will implement programs. He said he hoped for culture exchanges, and economic and organizational cooperation. He also suggested sending workers from Irkutsk city to help build Ulaanbaatar’s new power plant.

B.Baatarzorig thanked S.V.Serebrenikov for coming to Ulaanbaatar and awarded him a medal commemorating the 370th anniversary of Ulaanbaatar for his contributions to the development of Ulaanbaatar.
