Speaker attends refinery groundbreaking in Darkhan-Uul

The Government says the refinery will supply most of Mongolia’s domestic fuel needs, decreasing reliance on foreign imports.

Currently, Mongolia is almost wholly dependent on fuel imported from Russia, and if Russia were to raise its petroleum export tax, consumer prices in Mongolia would rise, exacerbating inflation.
That’s why Parliament passed a protocol to build a refinery in Mongolia, stating that it should be constructed in Darkhan-Uul aimag. While in the aimag, D.Demberel also inspected ongoing preparations for winter.
