MONGOLIA-CROATIA JOINT STATEMENT RELEASED

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ At the invitation of Mr. Ivo Josipovic, the President of the Republic of Croatia, the State Head of Mongolia Ts. Elbegdorj paid a state visit to the Republic of Croatia on 19-20 October 2011, said a joint statement released on Thursday. The heads of the countries have had talks, which were held in atmosphere of friendship, and exchanged their views on issues of bilateral relations and cooperation as well as of ones of mutual interest. The sides have been satisfied with the results of their talks and expressed a full confidence that their outcomes would give a new impetus to intensifying the cooperation between the two sides. They pointed out the importance of the further development of political dialogues and intensification of trade and economic cooperation at various levels. The two sides underlined that there are opportunities to develop cooperation in food, agriculture, light industry, infrastructure, culture, education, tourism, environmental protection. They stated to support the cooperation between relevant entities in these regards. The sides stressed that the current visit is taking place in the year of 100th anniversary of Mongolian National Freedom Movement and 20th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Croatia. The Mongolian side commented the Croatian achievements for developing the country and wished the success for the process of joining EU. The Croatian side pledged to support Mongolia in introducing the European standards, work closely in framework of the OSCE, support Mongolia in broadening her interaction with NATO and in becoming contact state of the organization.

Croatia acknowledged its acceptance of Mongolian side's request to increase a number of Mongolian students, studying on the Croatian Government's scholarship. The Croatian side applauded the Mongolian chair of the Community of Democracies in 2011-2013. Two sides stated to have cooperation in this regard. The sides emphasized an importance of strengthening their cooperation on the international arena. The parties reaffirmed their readiness for an active interaction in resolving global issues, including the combating international terrorism, and for the sake of sustainable development in the frames United Nations and its specialized agencies. The two sides underlined that the state visit by H.E.Mr. Tsakhia Elbegdorj to Croatia was an important event aimed at strengthening of the friendly relations and intensifying of economic cooperation. Ts. Elbegdorj expressed a gratitude to Mr. Ivo Josipovic for the cordial and warm hospitality and extended an invitation to him to pay a visit to Mongolia.
