MEETING RUNS ON MINING ISSUES

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The meeting themed “Labour safety, hygiene issues in mining and micro mining and future goals” is running October 27-28, supported by the Ministry of Social welfare and labour and the International labour organization.

As a chief specialist of regulatory department for policy implementation of this Ministry T.Erdene says, the mining is boosting and work places are increasing, but industrial accidents are not reducing, so it has become vital to refine upon a legal environment for the mining and micro mining employers and to increase a participation and role of state institutions, NGOs and civil organizations in creating safety conditions at job places."

On October 27, the gathered discussed eight reports on labour safety and hygiene in mining sector, tomorrow they will focus on seven speeches dedicated to micro mines.

The meeting has been attended by over 150 officials from the Ministries of Social welfare and labour, of Mineral resources and energy, of Health, from mineral resources authority, Confederation of trade unions, United employers association, Erdenet mining industry, Oyu tolgoi, Tsairt mineral, Shariin gol, Shivee-Ovoo mining companies, National mining association, “Stable micro mine” project of Swiss agency for development and cooperation.
