President of Mongolia meets, B.V.Gryzlov, Speaker of the State Duma
President of Mongolia Ts. Elbegdorj continues his official meetings this week as he meets with, B. V. Gryzlov, the Speaker of the State Duma. The President extended his appreciation for the warm welcome he received from the Russian Federation, a country with long traditional friendly relations with Mongolia.
Mr. B. V. Gryzlov congratulated President Ts. Elbegdorj on his successful state visit.
He said, “I would like stress that the bilateral relations and cooperation between our countries have reached a high level, just as the cooperation between the Parliaments of our countries.
Regular exchanges have been established between our Parliaments by the efforts and initiatives of the parliamentary groups.
This year, a group of representatives of the State Duma is planning to visit Mongolia.” Mr. B. V. Gryzlov continued, “As for the trade and economic relations, the trade turnover between our countries have reached USD1.2 billion, which would surely have positive, impacts on the new infrastructure projects.
For instance, I would like to stress our railway projects. In addition, we have also witnessed a rise in the interest of Mongolian people to study Russian language.
Currently, there are over 1200 Mongolian students studying in Russia. With the efforts of both the Government of Russian Federation and the interest of Mongolian young people, we are confident to see a surge in this number”
President Ts. Elbegdorj stressed of the advancement from the traditionally friendly relations to the level of strategic partnership.
“Mongolia-Russian relations have centuries of rich historic inheritance. The year 2011 coincides with numerous anniversaries and events of great importance for our country.
New era and new circumstances demand us to resolve new economic challenges. Although the amount of trade turnover has been steady for the last several years, for Mongolian side, it has been largely imbalanced.
The research on the possibilities for Mongolia-Russia Free Trade Agreement has already started. Regional cooperation is also an important part of our bilateral relations.
The 2011-2012 Plan for Regional Development and Cooperation has been approved. Successful implementation of this plan is in the interest of people of both our countries. By utilizing such cooperation opportunities, the export amount will increase, paving new ways for Mongolian products and services to reach Russian market,” the President added.
