Russians Request “Asgat” be Removed from Strategic Deposit List

Russian delegation participating in Mongolia-Russia Government-to- Government JV consultative meeting, or “Soviet”, had requested “Asgat” silver deposit be removed from Strategic Deposit List of Mongolia. “Asgat” deposit belongs to Mongolian-Russian JV “Mongolrostsvetment”, a JV 51%:49% owned by Mongolian and Russian governments and is located in western Mongolian Bayan-Ulgii province.

The deposit is located at the border with Russian Republics Altai and Tuva and is believed to hold reserves of 3,400 tonnes of silver, 106.6 thousand tones of surma, 238.2 thousand tones of silver as well as gold and lead, “Ardyn Erkh” daily reports.The reason for Russian request is due to silver hitting record of $38 per ounce and if the deposit is still in the Strategic Deposit List Mongolian government has to hold 51% percent.
