Mongolia and England Holds Hands in the Educational Spectrum

On April 13th, a ceremony to sign a memorandum of mutual understanding on cooperation between the Mongolian Government and the International Examinations Center of the University of Cambridge took place in the auditorium of the school called “New Era”.

The school was established in the year 2010 in the premises of the government school number 115.The memorandum of understanding was signed by the Minister of Education, Culture and Science Yo.Otgonbayar, and by Chief Executive of the Cambridge International Examinations Center Ann Puntis.

Also present at the ceremony was the Premier Mr. S.Batbold and the Group Chief Executive of Cambridge Assessment Simon Libus. The Prime Minister S.Batbold was the person who initiated this programme in Mongolia.

During the ceremony, the director of the school “New Era” B.Amartuvshin was granted a certificate of affirmation by the Cambridge University facilitating the New Era School as the official arm of Cambridge in Mongolia.

The PM stressed that this step has brought Mongolia much closer to the internationally-accepted educational system which will be best for Mongolian people.

The Minister of education Mr. Yo.Otgonbayar said “We are planning to open 30 state-owned schools like the school New Era, from September of next year”.

Mongolian pupils can study directly at the Harvard University after they graduate secondary school in Mongolia. Because they will have a an education level equivalent to the Cambridge University. Thus this program will provide a head start for the Mongolian education’s reform.
