City and "UB Railway" to cooperate

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ Authorities of Ulaanbaatar and of the "Ulaanbaatar railway" Mongolia-Russia joint stock company jointly set up a working group to meet and decide cooperation issues.

As a first action, they have decided to remove all reservoirs from which poisonous chemical stuff is transpoted by the railway crossing the city. A related documentation will be made for the Government for consideration in order to relocate Tolgoit and Khonkhor's reservoirs to Bagakhangai district.

According to the Ulaanbaatar city's development plan to 2030, cargo terminals will be erected at the eastern and western sides of the city and to run freight transport in front of the Bogd mountain, not on territory of the city.

The railway-autoway intersection Tolgoit is closed for 4-5 hours a day to let trains pass. As planned, this time will increase eight hours in 2013, thus a need arises to build a bridge.

Some of 67 unofficial points, through which people cross the railway lines, will be enhanced by concrete protection, underground passage and bridges for safety.

Apart of this, the sides want to remove from the city international routes and to boost public transport and domestic lines instead.
