State emergency commission reports

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The State Emergency Commission (SEC) gave Monday a report on winter situation in rural areas.

As of today, over 80 per cent of areas have been covered by snow. Due to this, the wintering might worsen in 86 soums of 14 aimags. In accordance with a decision of the SEC, 3,900 tons of hay will be delivered to the points of state resources in Arkhangai, Bayankhongor, Bayan-Olgii, Dundgobi, Omnogobi, Ovorkhangai, Tov, Uvs and Khovd provinces. A matter of finances for this action is expected to be considered at the cabinet of Ministers soon.

In some aimags, a snow has reached 20-40 sm in thickness, which does not allow to put livestock to pasture, so the animals have been fed inside folds. This year's snow is more of the average of many years in Gobi-Altai, Bayankhongor, Ovorkhangai, Arkhangai, Bulgan, Dundgobi and Omnogobi provinces.

The nighttime cold is dropping to -26 -38 C in the southern part of Altai and Gobi aimags. The SEC has decided to place additional size of fodder and hay in the points of state resource in rural areas.

The head of the SEC, Deputy Premier M.Enkhbold has ordered related organizations and officials to give on time reports on weather and situation in rural areas.
