Regular Mongolia-China meeting irons out consular issues

Dec 17, 2010 (BBC Monitoring via COMTEX) -- [By B. Huder] Ulaanbaatar: The 12th consular consultative meeting of Mongolia and China was held 15 December in Beijing, China.

The meeting has attracted Ts. Suhbaatar, the ambassador of Mongolia to the People's Republic of China; D. Ganhuyag, director of consular department of the Foreign Ministry; Ya. Ariunbold, head of the consular section of Mongolia's embassy in China; B. Enh-Amgalan, general consulate to Hohhot cit; and S. Bathuyag, consul to Chinese Erlian town. The Chinese side has been represented by Huang Ping, director of the consular department of the China Foreign Ministry, and other officials.

The sides have underlined that the two countries need to widen the consular ties and to improve the legal environment, and to increase the consular representatives due to a reason widening of the consular collaboration between the countries apart of the bilateral relations and cooperation.

The Chinese side has accepted and then decided to research proposals and requests from Mongolia on receiving an official report regarding establishing Mongolian general consulate in Hong Kong, on having the Mongolia's state secretary of the Ministry of Justice and International Affairs visit China, on appointing a consular representative in Urumqi and on positively tackling the case related to Mongolian citizen D. Oyun.

In addition to it, the Chinese side has reported that it is possible to tackle a matter of granting the permanent residence permission to Mongolians in Erlian town after altering the document about present condition of mutual visit of citizens. Moreover, the Chinese side has requested Mongolia to pay an attention to making different the ordinary and official passports of Mongolians to visit China, and to take a related measure. Then, the sides have reported they will take a specific measure on the matters.

Mongolia has decided to cooperate with China in initialling a bilateral convict transfer agreement in 2011 and in establishing an agreement on employment for Chinese specialized workers in Mongolia.

The Chinese side has requested the Mongolian side to pay an attention to a problem of trespassing upon property of Chinese people and entities residing in Mongolia, and to take a related measure for ensuring the safety. In response, Mongolian side has said that enforcement authorities are working together with police to tackle such kind of crimes and to reduce number of the crimes. The Mongolian side also wants China to give a report to its police authorities on unsatisfactory measure to tackle various crimes against Mongolians which took place in market, shopping centres and streets.

The two sides have agreed to actively cooperate in realizing the matters discussed at the consultative meeting.

The 13th consultative consular meeting will be held 2011 in Ulaanbaatar city.
