Capital city budget discussed

The Ulaanbaatar Civil Representatives’ Assembly reviewed on December 25 the capital city budget for 2011as passed by Parliament. Mayor G.Munkhbayar told the meeting that the city needs to spend MNT700 billion in the coming year, that it has to contribute MNT26.7 billion to the state budget to help it meet the deficit, and that Parliament has allocated MNT79 billion to be spent on some priority areas in Ulaanbaatar.

The meeting authorized expenditure of MNT20 billion on reducing smoke in Ulaanbaatar. The nine districts were asked to spend MNT1 billion each on repairs and tree planting. Districts CRAs plan to discuss their own budgets this week.

City officials decided to spend MNT400 million on upgrading the traffic signaling system and traffic monitoring. Another MNT250 million will go toward setting up a food testing laboratory, while auto roads repair work would be continued in 2011.
