Add a Mongolian visit to gap years in China

People planning a gap year in China could opt to add a memorable occasion to their itinerary in the form of a visit to Mongolia.

Paul Bondsfield, head of marketing at travel retailer Round The World Experts, says public transport is a popular means both of reaching China and travelling once there.

But for those still at the planning stage of their gap year in China, it could also provide an opportunity to add memorable moments to the journey into the east.

"More and more people are making their way overland from Beijing to Hong Kong … or travelling on the trans-Siberian and trans-Mongolian Express as a means of seeing the vast steppe of Russia and Mongolia," Mr Bondsfield says.

It is not only the land that offers a way of covering ground for people planning a lot of travelling for their time in China.

Internal flights also represent a useful means of seeing more of the country, he adds.
