UN - Ochir Enkhtsetseg of Mongolia Chair of Second Committee

Ochir Enkhtsetseg, Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations, was elected Chair of the Second Committee (Economic and Financial) on 11 June 2010.

She has served as her country’s Permanent Representative since 1 October 2007. Prior to that appointment, Ms. Enkhtsetseg was Director-General of the Multilateral Cooperation Department at Mongolia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a post she held from 2000 to 2007. In her previous 12 years with the Ministry, she was an Officer and Senior Officer in the Department of International Organizations, and an Officer in the Europe and America Department.

A career diplomat, Ms. Enkhtsetseg joined the United Nations almost 20 years ago. From 1992 to 1997 she was First Secretary and later Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Mongolia to the United Nations. Previously, she was a member and Deputy Head of numerous delegations to sessions of the General Assembly.

While fulfilling her duties as a Permanent Representative, Ms. Enkhtsetseg would continue to serve as a member of the Governmental Advisory Board of the International Centre for Democratic Transition, based in Budapest, Hungary, and as a board member of the Mongol Cultural Heritage International Association, in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

Ms. Enkhtsetseg holds degrees from Moscow State Institute of International Relations and Stanford University. Fluent in Mongolian, English and Russian, she was born in Ulaanbaatar on 26 November 1961.
