Ministry to Cooperate with MCAM in Reducing Air Pollution

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ A ceremony took place Thursday in the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy to sign a memorandum of mutual understanding on cooperation in distributing energy-saving fuels to ger areas. This memorandum has been inked by D.Zorigt, the Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy and by S.Bayarbaatar, an executive director of the Millennium Challenge Account of Mongolia (MCAM) in frames of activities to reduce air pollution in Ulaanbaatar.

In accordance with the memorandum, the Ministry will collaborate with the MCAM's "Fresh Air" project in forming connection between similar projects and supporting them by policies, in improving capacity of electricity distribution to the ger areas, creating a united system of registering heating facilities and materials imported, refining upon the examination in use and consumption of liquid fuel, and in renewing the standards for energy-saving materials.

The MCAM's "Fresh Air" project has been implemented since the start of this year with a purpose to reduce air pollution by increasing consumption of fuel-saving materials, reducing the consumption of coal fuel, developing and supporting production of renewable energy.
