MAYOR MEETS GOVERNOR OF JAPAN'S NIIGATA PREFECTURE

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ A delegation led by Mr. Hirohiko Izumida, governor of Niigata prefecture of Japan is visiting Ulaanbaatar city. On Tuesday, the Mayor of Ulaanbaatar city G.Monkhbayar received to the delegation of Niigata prefecture that has been implementing various projects in Ulaanbaatar and Mongolia together with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The Mayor gave the Japan's delegation an introduction to the capital city of Mongolia and shared views on new opportunities to develop the bilateral collaboration. The Mayor mentioned that Ulaanbaatar city is facing urgent problems relating to migration from localities with a rapid increase of population in the city, and underlined that there are many problems for the city to the infrastructural sector.

In his turn, Mr. Hirohiko said that the two cities have an opportunity to develop cooperation in the tourism sector, and underlined that Mongolia has many historical sites that may attract Japanese tourists. He promised to make propaganda to Japanese tourists for tourism in Mongolia.

The Japanese delegation also comprised the governor of Gosen city and its officials. Gosen city has Mongolian children rest in Japan. The governor of the city said the city is ready to increase number of children to rest in Gosen city.

The delegation of Niigata prefecture plans to establish cooperation with the city's Chingeltei district.
