Chinese inland province, Mongolia vow to expand ties

ULAN BATOR, June 22 (Xinhua) -- China's Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region and neighboring Mongolia have vowed to expand economic, educational and cultural cooperation fight desertification.

The Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region would further expand its relations with Mongolia, Hu Chunhua, Communist Party of China chief of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, said on Monday during a visit to Mongolia.

Hu, who is also chairman of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, was heading a delegation from the region.

Hu met with Mongolian Deputy Prime Minister Miyegombo Enkhbold on Monday.

The two sides exchanged views on boosting exchanges and cooperation in agriculture, education, culture, mining and infrastructure, and on free economic zones and border checkpoints. They also discussed cooperation among the bordering areas and in the fight against desertification.

They agreed on efforts to implement what leaders of the two countries have agreed during the exchanges of visits this year.
